A little bit of Vermont geology for the garden.

Our Botanical Grit is made from 100% Vermont granite, sourced in partnership with local quarries. Mix it into potting soil to improve drainage and aeration, or scatter it over the surface of pots as a handsome mineral top dressing.

Especially useful for bulbs, alpines, succulents and other plants that prefer free-draining soil.

FROM VERMONT STONE

Horticultural grit has long been a staple of British gardening, but finding the right material in America isn't always easy. We wanted a version made closer to home.

Ours is made from 100% Vermont granite sourced in partnership with local quarries. We use it throughout the nursery to improve drainage in potting mixes and as a top dressing for bulbs, alpines, succulents and other container plants.

“THE PRODUCT THAT FIRST CAUGHT THIS WRITER’S EYE? HORTICULTURAL GRIT—A STAPLE OF BRITISH HORTICULTURE THAT IS NOTORIOUSLY DIFFICULT TO FIND STATESIDE.”
